Not sure this will be a long one again, but as always, grab a drink and settle in for a read.
Having not done much this Christmas/NY period I was hanging to get out of the house! Had been for a swim at the beach first thing with the family and got home around 9.30am.
Decided to take myself off on a day trip to York, I did toss around a few options, but to do it in one day, limited me to not coming home too late in the evening. I hadn’t been to York in quite some time, well not to look around.
The trip itself is beautiful, going through the countryside, wide open brown paddocks and some with livestock in them. I don’t need to go far out of town to feel more at home! I love to long open roads with the windows down and the music up.

I got to York and headed down the main street to the end, and found a parking spot just outside the motor museum and just opposite the sweets shop 🙂
I took a google of the best pub for lunch as it was about 12.30pm by the time I arrived at York and settled on the Imperial Homestead as their food reviews were brilliant! Paying for food and drink was separate which was a little annoying and the beer tasted a little watered down, but the food didn’t disappoint. I ordered a pint of Great Northern and the Hellfire Parmi! It was a normal Parmi with pork belly bites and jalapenos with chips and salad. Very very nice!!
After leaving the pub I headed back down the main street and wandered into a fresh provisions style shop called The Good Life Store, so much awesome fresh local products and produce. I didn’t buy anything but could have on someone else’s dime! haha
Wandered further back towards the sweet shop to find he was closed, so kept walking and found THE MOST AMAZING SHOP. It was called the Corrugated Farm Shop and had some amazing items it it. It was a co-op shop, so everything was made by local artists. There was metal works created into flowers, bees, dragonflys and much more. There were corrugated signs to put on your shed, or the front of the house. Clothes, Jewelry, knick knacks, concrete works and so much more. I was in love, this was my kind of store and I could have spent so much money here, but they only took cash, so I was saved.
After chatting to the lovely lady who worked there I moved onto the sweet shop to get my gob stoppers, yep I am 35 yrs old and still love gob stoppers. Had a lovely chat to the fella who owned the shop and he told be about a near gone village about 20 mins down the road called Green Hills, and there was only a couple houses left and the pub. I had the time so took a drive. It was actually pretty cool, little bit of history outside some of the properties or the vacant land. Where the old bank was, and the old blacksmith, even the old well and the beautiful old Church, still standing.

After having a mosey around, it was time to head back to Perth, the day was getting away from me.
It was a quiet drive back to Perth with still very little traffic on the road. Whilst this wasn’t my normal offroad adventure, it was still a great trip with Mallow.
Thanks for reading.
